Royal Anandapur Tea Company

Something about this composition with the bamboo in the background made me think about doing something different with the processing. I went with a bit more of a vintage look, it seemed like the scene fit with the idea.

Grand Dynamic Range

Grand Dynamic Range by DisHippy
Grand Dynamic Range, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

The more I look at the shots I got of various resorts, the more excited I get to go back down. I'm sure we all get new ideas as we edit photos from past trips. After reading Ryan Pastorino's post on Disney Photography Blog about leveling ultra wide shots, I definitely want to pay a little more attention to my leveling next trip, especially with my ultra wide. This was taken from one end of the Grand Floridian resort lobby and is a 3 bracket HDR.

Gifts With Real Character

Gifts With Real Character by DisHippy
Gifts With Real Character, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

As most of you already know, I'm a sucker for a good Disney sign. The added bonus here was a late afternoon sunflare.

This is taken right after the Disney Photography Blogs Flower and Garden meetup. We had to split off a little early to meetup with my family for our ADR at Le Cellier. I definitely can say between the day and the meal, that was easily one of our best days. I had a lot of great shots from that day.

And...Action!

And...Action! by DisHippy
And...Action!, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

One of these days Disney is finally going to start looking at our photos and reading our comments and finally take down that stupid speaker behind this statue. It's really hard to shoot around and I don't like it in my shot. lol. That's me being my own worst critic again. :) I can't wait to get back down to WDW to try some different comp ideas I had with this statue.

Mosaic Signing

I love the entrance and sign for the Land pavilion in Epcot Center. It's one thing that I'm really glad hasn't really changed since it was put in. It also holds on of my favorite Future World attractions, Living With The Land.

Temperate Fusion

Temperate Fusion by DisHippy
Temperate Fusion, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This is another shot that I've taken and posted once before. I wanted to shoot it again for two reasons, one because they put out red and white potted flowers around the Temperate House to add a nice splash of color in there. And two, I wanted to process this one differently than the one before that was pretty early on in my shooting with a DSLR. This is a three shot HDR blended with exposure fusion in Photomatix.

A tight shot here, trying to get creative with the tikis in Adventureland. These guys are another spot I'd like to get some more shots of.

A Mad Party

A Mad Party, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

A shot I grabbed one night in the Magic Kingdom. I've said it before, but the number one thing on my shot list for next trip is to take more night shots. This was only a single exposure, but I think it came out fairly good.

How Much We Learn In A Year

How Much We Learn In A Year by DisHippy
How Much We Learn In A Year, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

I've held off posting this shot as I'm not 100% satisfied with it. I didn't get both words totally in focus and it's bugged me ever since I got home from this trip to review my photos.

It was our last night and we were working our way around the Crescent Lake resort area, and as we got around so I could get a shot of these popular benches, it started to rain. So I set up as quickly as possible, a little too quick it turns out, and snapped this shot. Not 15 seconds after I snapped this frame, the sky unleashed some fury. I guess it's what we get for having such good weather for the rest of that trip.

Now that it's been close to a year since that trip, I realized things I would want to do differently in focusing and composition. It's amazing how far we can come and how much we can grow in a year. Of course most of that is due to the incredible talent here on Flickr. I count myself very lucky to have so many talented friends from so many different areas.

Please let me know what you think of this one. Any suggestions on improving it for next time are welcomed and appreciated.

Get Your Gear

Get Your Gear by DisHippy
Get Your Gear, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

Gupta's Gear here in the Everest area of Animal Kingdom is a perfect example of those places that exist all over Walt Disney World just for the sake of holding together the story. All the signage, the aging in everything, the prayer flags and powerlines hanging overhead, I could go on and on. Many of you know how I feel about the Animal Kingdom, and this adds to my case that Animal Kingdom is a fantastic place for photography beyond just the animals.

Happy Valentines Day - So This Is Love

So This Is Love by DisHippy
So This Is Love, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

First, I want to say Happy Valentines Day to my beautiful and wonderful Jenea. I was going through re-editing some Disney photos and happened upon this one. I immediately knew that this is the shot I wanted to use for today. I was finally able to bring the sky back into this one.

Hope everyone and their sweethearts have a great Valentines Day!

The Lodge On The Lake

The Lodge On The Lake by DisHippy
The Lodge On The Lake, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This shot has been a long time coming. I've worked this shot over in processing time and time again, and this is the first time I've been remotely happy with the results. The early morning light left that really weird fade in the sky that was hard to deal with. It was really nice to be back at Wilderness Lodge in the morning, reminded me of how much and why I love that resort so much.

Lines In The Sky

Lines In The Sky by DisHippy
Lines In The Sky, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

I needed another Disney fix today everyone. I've really been missing Disney lately and feeling very uninspired. At first, I didn't like the people that were in the shot and thought I would take them out, but then when I looked at it this morning, I started to like that they were there. The people add a good sense of height to the Contemporary tower.

Illuminating

Illuminating by DisHippy
Illuminating, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This was a little experiment that I wanted to try when I found this slightly sharp light inside the Climatron at the Missouri Botanical Garden. This was super close at 10mm and wide open with my UWA lens. Please, please, please let me know what you think of this everyone, I'd really like to figure out how to make this light capture better. Thanks in advance, Enjoy!

Casting Shadows In Italy

Casting Shadows In Italy by DisHippy
Casting Shadows In Italy, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

Going through some shots from the day in our trip that a bunch of us Flickr friends got together for some shooting in World Showcase. I found this shot from Italy, and at first didn't really like the lighting. The more I looked at it on black, the more I really liked the light. The shadow is massive and gives more visual proof of how big the tower really is. I would really like to here what everyone thinks of this, construction criticism is welcomed. Enjoy!

Flower Tower

Flower Tower by DisHippy
Flower Tower, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

Another unexpected surprise when we were at the Missouri Botanical Gardens the other day was this Aloe that was in the middle of a bloom. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love how close to I can focus with my UWA lens wide open to really give some size and interesting focusing to the photo. It was cool to catch these in the middle of their bloom. Not enough to be open, but just enough to have all the color in the buds. Please let me know what you think about this one, as I really do appreciate all of you feedback as it helps me grow as a photographer. Enjoy!

Lines and Curves

Lines and Curves by DisHippy
Lines and Curves, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This is one of the only views, that I've been able to find at least, to capture both the Climatron and Temperate Glass Houses at the Missouri Botanical Garden. The combination of the curve of the Climatron dome and the angles and lines of the Temperate House. This is another 9 shot HDR (-4 -3 -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4) that was blended with exposure fusion in photomatix. Please let me know what you all think as any suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated. Enjoy!
