Casey's Corner

Casey's Corner by DisHippy
Casey's Corner, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

My favorite place to get a hot dog anywhere in the world! I really don't think there is any difference between the hot dogs found at Casey's and every other hot dog anywhere else in the world, but for the simple fact that it's on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom just makes them taste just a bit better. :) Nothing terribly special about this shot, I just figured I would have some people who felt the same as I do about this Main Street staple. Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

My Camera Got Some Extra Muscle

Yesterday when I went out shooting with Ryan Pastorino (Silver1SWA) and Corey Dorsey (Corsey21) in and around St. Louis, I got to try out this bad boy. The MB-D80 Battery Grip for my D90. After our last trip to WDW, I noticed I was taking a lot of portrait shots and by the end of the week I felt like I had a defective wrist. LoL. This will definitely solve it, extremely responsive and comfortable in my hand. And it just looks awesome! Sorry that the shot is so grainy, it was taken on my iPhone. :^p

Fully Stocked

Another one of the boats fully stocked and ready to go along the river in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom. Another reason I wanted to catch this view was the potential passenger. He may have to wait for the next one. LoL. He was very gracious to sit still for me and allow me to get quite close to get this shot. Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post this last night, I had the day off work and met Ryan Pastorino (Silver1SWA) for some shooting around St. Louis, then we met up with Corey Dorsey (Corsey21) to shoot the Arch. We had a great time and can't wait to see how the shots we all got turned out. Watch out for those Mosquitoes boys! ;)

Seeking Detail

Seeking Detail by DisHippy
Seeking Detail, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

While along the walk around World Showcase with a group of photogs for the WDW Photography meet, Jenea, Andreea, and I split off to shoot some in Japan. I have always loved this pavilion and it's tranquil feel. I wanted to capture some of the details that accomplished this feeling. Upon seeing these lanterns, I knew I could make some magic of my own with my wide angle. By this time the clouds had subsided and broken up to reveal that great Florida blue sky. I was pretty happy with the way that this one turned out. What do you all think? Enjoy!

To The Terrace

To The Terrace by DisHippy
To The Terrace, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

A close up, ultra wide angle shot of the Tomorrowland Terrace sign during golden hour. I would have to say that the Magic Kingdom would probably get my vote for the most fun park to shoot during golden hour. And especially Tomorrowland, the golden color really compliment the land. Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

Monorail Monday - Highway In The Clouds (Explored)

As we headed to the boat dock outside of the Magic Kingdom, I walked back up to the Monorail track to wait for one before our boat came. I was very pleased to see Monorail Red come out of the station as it would really stand out against that great blue sky. I snapped as many shots as I could manage hoping for a winner, as this was officially my first Monorail shot with my D90. Out of all them, this was my favorite. As always, please let me know what you think and of course, Enjoy!

Natural Lighting

Natural Lighting by DisHippy
Natural Lighting, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

Another shot from Animal Kingdom Lodge after our breakfast at Boma. I was really liking the chandeliers that were made out of raw materials and natural elements. At least it appeared that way. They added very well to the overall theme of the resort and the lobby. After visiting Animal Kingdom Lodge, it is definitely at the top of my list for which Deluxe Resort I'd like to stay at next. This was taken with my trusty 50mm f/1.8, I love the detail that thing can capture. Let me know what you all think and of course, Enjoy!

Showtime Saturday - Oh My! (Explored)

Showtime Saturday - Oh My! by DisHippy
Showtime Saturday - Oh My!, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

I would have to say that my favorite part of the seeing the Main Street Electrical Parade was the Alice in Wonderland floats. That is and has always been one of my favorite Disney animated features, and seeing these floats go through the hub and in front of the castle was a real treat for me. The reason I posted this for my Showtime Saturday shot was from the pose the I caught Alice in with this shot. Please let me know what you all think and as always, Enjoy!

Fireworks Friday - Lighting The Sky

One of two shots that I grabbed during the finale of Wishes! This is the first of the shots, the second is pretty bright and will require just a bit more processing before it's just right I think. This was shot with my Sigma UWA lens (I know, big surprise there) and my 2-stop ND filter. Please let me know what you all think about the processing and as always, Enjoy!

Bonsai And The Tori Gate (Explored)

Bonsai And The Tori Gate by DisHippy
Bonsai And The Tori Gate, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

An ultra wide angle view of the Bonsai exhibit in the Japanese pavilion of Epcot's World Showcase for the Flower and Garden Festival. Bonsai has always been something that's impressed me and to see such a good selection of Bonsai trees in Epcot was great. To think that some of these little trees are hundreds of years old just blows my mind. Please let me know what you all think and as always, Enjoy!

Golden Orleans

Golden Orleans, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

I couldn't resist a golden hour shot back at Port Orleans French Quarter of the facade of the back of the lobby. I am a big fan of the architecture styles in this resort, and the lobby is no exception. And who could deny those great Florida palm trees to balance it all out. Boy, do I love that Sigma UWA lens. :) Enjoy!

Wonders at Night (Explored)

Wonders at Night by DisHippy
Wonders at Night, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This has to be one of my absolute favorite shots that I captured while on our last trip. As I've mentioned, night time HDR have eluded as far processing goes, so this is just a single shot, but the way it turned out really impressed me. Epcot is definitely my favorite park to be in at night, yet I wasn't able last trip to spend as much time as I wanted in Epcot shooting at night. Hopefully I will crack the night time HDR code with some more practice, because shooting at night is my favorite. Especially in WDW, I love the looks we all get when people pass by, wondering what we are shooting. Please let me know what you all think as always and of course, Enjoy!

Sitting In Boma

Sitting In Boma by DisHippy
Sitting In Boma, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

I would have to say that one of my favorite parts about our breakfast at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, besides the food, was the overall ambiance of the seating area itself. The lighting was beautiful and provided even more evidence that Disney pays attention to everything. Always remember to look up! You will be surprised at what you might find! Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

As a side note I wanted to apologize for not being around Flickr much yesterday, Saturday, I was shooting a wedding. It was highly successful as far as I could tell, even though I have some post processing work ahead of me. It actually made me feel like a real photographer. :)

Showtime Saturday - Now This Is A Party!

The good old Mad Hatter in the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! mid day parade. I was really surprised at how much I actually enjoyed this parade, just because it's just so Disney! Lots of energy and crowd interaction, and with one of my favorite characters, the Mad Hatter! Enjoy!

Sweet Spells

Sweet Spells, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

A little something to add for Hollywood Studios Awareness Week. This has always been one of my favorite building on Sunset Blvd. Aside from the Hollywood Tower Hotel of course. This was shot just at the end of golden hour as the neon was starting to come on. We were heading to our first time at the 50's Prime Time cafe. We had a wonderful meal and a whole lot of fun with our cousin. I can definitely say from the feedback I got from the family, we will be going back to 50's Prime Time. As always, please let me know what you all think and of course, Enjoy!

Pandas In China

A shot of the Panda topiary just outside the China pavilion. This topiary really fit this pavilion and though I was a bit upset that the dragon that usually sits in the reflection pool wasn't there, this was great. Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

Mosaic in Morocco

Mosaic in Morocco by DisHippy
Mosaic in Morocco, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

A Mosaic fountain found in the back of the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. I really did get a bit lost back there for a while with Ryan and Jenea during the WDW Photography meetup. I really like that in this pavilion they combine wood, mosaic tile, and stone all in one architectural style. Please let me know what you all think and as always, Enjoy!

Inside The Temple

Inside The Temple by DisHippy
Inside The Temple, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This seems to be a customary shot for all of us WDW photographers. The ceiling shot of the Temple of Heaven is almost a right of passage in WDW photography world. :) I've always loved this building, both inside and out for it's great detail and superb color. I of course have the straight up shot, but I really liked the way this came out with my UWA lens. What do you all think? Enjoy!

Monorail Monday - Lightspeed

Monorail Monday - Lightspeed by DisHippy
Monorail Monday - Lightspeed, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

Monorail red speeding out of the Polynesian Resort station. This one was definitely a bit tough to process from the bright early morning light coming from the roof and the dark shadows back in the station. Please let me know what you all think and as always, Enjoy!

Sunshine Sunday - The Emporium

Early morning in the Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite times to be in that park. I really liked how the sun was coming through the architecture and the trees to the Emporium. Sunshine Sunday seemed to fit pretty well for this particular shot, but who knows, maybe it will stick. :) Please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

Blue Water on Blue Sky

Blue Water on Blue Sky, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

Here we are back at the Grand Floridian with a shot of a beautiful fountain that's right near the main pool just outside the lobby. I was able to set up my tripod right on the edge of the fountain and get the whole fountain and the sky beyond. Hope everyone has a great weekend and as always, Enjoy!

Animal Kingdom Atrium

Animal Kingdom Atrium by DisHippy
Animal Kingdom Atrium, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

A shot inspired by a shot I saw Ralph (PhotoNut2010) post a couple days ago with his trusty fish eye lens. This is my take on the same view through my Sigma 10-20mm UWA lens. It's a 3 shot HDR bracketed -2 0 +2. The shadows versus the bright light coming in through the atrium window was a bit tough to process, so please let me know what you think and as always, Enjoy!

Vinylmation Nation

Vinylmation Nation by DisHippy
Vinylmation Nation, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This is a shot of the Vinylmation sign found inside Villains in Vogue on Sunset Blvd. in Disney's Hollywood Studios. I was walking the street with my 50mm having some fun. These great displays can be found in many places across the entire resort, it seems Vinylmation has taken over as the most prominent souvenir that can be found in the parks. I only have four of these little guys but I must say that I can see danger in this. lol. Time for Jeff to work on his self control, which should be pretty easy as I really don't have money to be spending on Vinylmations right at the moment. :) But as a Graphic Designer, I really loved seeing these great displays around the parks. Enjoy!

Shrine To The Mountain

Shrine To The Mountain by DisHippy
Shrine To The Mountain, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This is another shot from my solo walk around the Asian area of Animal Kingdom. I would definitely say that Animal Kingdom is quite a bit more enjoyable while holding onto a nice camera. There are so many hidden and not so hidden details in Animal Kingdom to capture. Here's a shot of one of the many shrines around the Expedition Everest area. It was really bright out so this one was a bit hard to process, so let me know what you all think! Enjoy!

Hall of Champions

Hall of Champions by DisHippy
Hall of Champions, a photo by DisHippy on Flickr.

This is about where the comments started groaning from the family about my taking shots of signs. :) I love the unique architecture found on Main Street U.S.A. and that includes the signage. It's that classic Victorian Main Street styling with an east coast spin. I was so glad that Jenea and I went back to MK later in the week to shoot Main Street specifically. I could and did spend hours there shooting. :) Enjoy!

Monorail Monday - A Stop At The Grand Floridian

Back from a fantastic weekend with the family and some much needed time off work. Despite being unbelievably hot out this weekend and not getting much sleep because of that, I wouldn't trade it for anything. As for today's shot, I grabbed this as we were on our monorail resort loop tour. I was really happy with the particular color of the monorail that stopped in the station as it compliments it's surroundings quite nicely. So of course please let me know what you all think and as always, Enjoy!

Blue Print Castle

Blue Print Castle by DisHippy

Another shot of the Magic, Memories, and You show in the Magic Kingdom. I'm pretty sure that I got every color of this line work at the beginning of the show, but I liked the blue the best. What do you think? Enjoy!

As a side note, I will be going out of town Friday afternoon and won't return until Sunday afternoon. It's that time for my annual family reunion camping trip. It's going to be nice a hot out this weekend so I'll have to drink plenty of water, among other things. ;)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
