One Year Later - 2011 Disney Trip Report - Day 7

Today would be our last day in the parks, as we were leaving to head back home the next day after spending the morning at Downtown Disney. We were heading to Animal Kingdom this morning to get in some more attractions that we didn't do earlier in the week.

Upon entering Animal Kingdom, we headed to the right and back towards Asia. The morning light was amazing, and since breakfast had not been terribly agreeable with me this morning, I spent some time shooting around Asia while the others went on Expedition Everest. I was kind of upset that I wasn't able to ride Everest this trip, but as I'm not the biggest thrill junkie, it didn't bother me too much. I did however get some pretty fun shots.

From here, we wandered back to Dinoland U.S.A. Surprisingly enough, this was our very first time in this area of Animal Kingdom. We just never made it back here, having all of our trips before this one being in the summer, we usually didn't spend too much time in Animal Kingdom.

Lookout For The Wildlife

Anyway, we took in the area, which was quite enjoyable, as we made our way back to Dinosaur. This of course was our first ride on this attraction as well, as I must say I'm disappointed in myself for missing it for so long. The attraction was very well themed and we all had a really good time on it.

After having a Mickey Bar while we roamed some shops, we eventually found ourselves in front of the Flights of Wonder attraction. The show was about to start letting people in, so we figured why not go see it. We've seen this show before, but this time we were in the very front row.

I for one, have always liked this attractions, as it goes back to an old Disney park staple, edutainment. An attraction for entertainment as well as education. My only complaint with this show, is if you are shooting photos and it's the afternoon time, the lighting in there is pretty tough the work with. I'd suggest and earlier or later show for some better light.

Clouds Rolling Over The Forbidden Mountain Water, Sky, And Earth Rays and Flares Early Spring Animal Kingdom

After Animal Kingdom, we wanted to go back to the resort for a little bit, since we wouldn't be there much longer. We all fell in love with French Quarter I think, and having as much time as possible there was something we wanted to try before the end of the trip.

Our last ADR was in Epcot appropriately enough as that's our favorite park. We arrived at Epcot right before dinner time and the park was beautiful as always.

Stop And Smell The Orange Blossoms

We took a friendship boat over the Morocco in route to our ADR. Via Napoli had just recently opened before our trip, and I was really excited to have some good pizza in the parks again. When we first got there, the check in desk was completely mobbed, so we checked in quickly and went to wait outside. After a very short wait, our party was seated. The only thing that I can say is that this restaurant is a bit cramped when it's really busy, but our having a 9 person party didn't help much either.

This was pretty easy to look past after our food arrived. We had a good mix of different pizzas and pastas on the menu, which we all ended up sharing for the most part. We had a great time at dinner, talking about our favorite parts of the trip, and of course, starting blue sky plans for our next trip. After dinner we went back towards Future World for a few last minute attractions, before heading to World Showcase Lagoon for Illuminations. For some reason, no matter how many times I see it in a trip, a trip doesn't seem complete unless I watch Illuminations on my last night, it really rounds things off nicely.

We watched ROE from the Canada pavilion, so after it had ended, Jenea and I headed to the Epcot Resort area for some night shots. The clouds were building I noticed, so I shot until the rains came.

Reflections Before the Storm An Evening Rush On The Boardwalk Lights On The Water Night Life On The Boardwalk How Much We Learn In A Year

I'm glad I got some good shots as it started pouring down rain as I snapped my last photo. We ducked into the shop on the Boardwalk to dry off and wait for the rain to slow a bit, then headed back to the car and back to the resort.

Though we were going to Downtown Disney in the morning for that last little bit of Disney magic, going back to the resort on this night was very bittersweet. Which is often the case with all Disney trips. Especially in our case when we know it will be several years before our next trip. Someday we will be able to afford a trip every year, but until then, I will soak up every ounce of Disney magic when I'm in the parks.

Great photos! Like blog posts with lots of photos to look at a story to go with the photos. I know what you mean about the bittersweet feeling....on the last night. That's the great thing about trips tho. You get to work on new photos after you get home & you get to plan the next trip!
